What’s Mindful Scooping?
It’s the act of litter box scooping using a simple tool that allows you to observe the quality of fecal matter and urine providing a window into your cat’s health.
Using a Rake/Scraper allows for a good cleaning of the litter, finding any remaining pieces of poo or bits of urine ball, making it healthier for your cat and for your home – that’s less waste and germs being tracked through the house and onto your pillow. Cleaner litter smells better and lasts longer!
Practicing Mindful Scooping allows you to get to know your cat better. You’ll learn your cat’s litter box habits like poo and urination litter box location patterns and the typical condition and size of poo and urine ball. Placement of the litter box in is also a mindful consideration.
It also connects you to your cat in a meaningful way.
Conquering the litter box issues gives you more time with your cat for the important things – like cuddling, brushing, and playing.
So what can a Visual Waste Health Confirmation tell you? (This is the serious part!)
The condition/consistency of poo can determine if the cat food is appropriate.
Urine balls larger than a golf ball could mean diabetes.
Evidence of blood in the urine or poo means you should take your cat to the vet immediately.
Eeek – Evidence of worms or other organisms also means get to the vet as soon as possible.
And presence of non-food items means you may need some new toys.
Let’s all be Mindful Scoopers!
